While this is an unusual topic, it is not political in nature, although our federal and state governments seem to make it that way, but to my friends, family too: while I love my neighbor, we/I am also prejudice by nature, and I personally am Christian by faith. I apologize in advance that I have a different belief than some of you, and most likely will lose a friend or two over this topic. But I’d like make my point. While I am not perfect, just ask my wife, these are my beliefs and strive to attain: I love thy neighbor, I do not hate. But I will give my prejudiced opinion. I have friends that are lesbian and gay, no transgender or bi-sexual that I know of, most of that crew have matured from that very liberal state.
- I follow the bible and its description of marriage: http://www.walkinthelight.ca/ten_biblical_principles_of_marriage.htm
- The 5th of the 10 commandments: Honor your father and your mother.
- Adam and Eve
- The description of marriage has evolved, just look at the Webster dictionary, but the first definition is and most likely was the only definition, “one woman and one man”.
- 2-5% of the population is LGBT, 3-5% of children are autistic.. I’m really sorry, nobody wants their child to be autistic.
Conclusion: While our forefathers who started this country based our government on the Christian faith, small percentages of people (noted above) have large voices and are influencing our friends and family to fight for their right. Unfortunately my belief, while some are biologically born, most LGBT people I know have deep family problems, family issues with whom and how they grew up. The question to you, do we stand for our Christian Heritage, or do we allow 2-5% of our population to try and manipulate one word, “marriage” into something originally for one man and one woman? Are we really manipulating the US Constitution over 2-5% of the population? Is a civil union, not enough? PS… I won’t hate you for having a difference of opinion, we all have one. We can agree to disagree.
Reference: 4% of the population is LGBT, I also found others with slight discrenpancies.
